Your practice stays on your device
How the thing is built, in plain words — not a promise about good intentions.
What is stored, and where
Everything you enter is kept in this browser and nowhere else:
- Your birth date
- The city you chose, and its latitude and longitude
- Which difficulty you selected, and your daily reflections
- Your key, if you bought one, and the date it was last checked
None of that is transmitted. Not the birth date, not the city, not a single reflection. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising pixel, no third-party script and no cookie.
The one exception: buying a licence
Payment is handled by a merchant of record, which is the seller of record for your order. To deliver and maintain your key, we keep a small amount of data on a server:
- What: your email address, your order reference, the key issued to you, and — if an order is refunded or reversed — a flag marking that key as revoked.
- Why: to send the key, to send it again if you lose it or change device, and to switch it off if the order is refunded. Nothing else.
- Not collected: your birth date, your location, your reflections, your usage, your device fingerprint, your IP address beyond what is needed to rate-limit the "resend my key" form.
- How long: 400 days, then it expires automatically. Ask us and we will delete it sooner.
- Legal basis (EU/UK): performance of a contract — Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. No consent is needed because the data is what the purchase itself requires.
If you never buy anything
Then nothing about you reaches a server we run, because the free app never asks one for anything. You do not have to take our word for it: if you or a friend know how to watch what a page sends, it stays quiet the whole time.
Deleting it
Clear this site's data in your browser and your practice is gone for good, reflections included. There is no backup, because there is no server holding one. If you want to keep the writing, save a copy from the notebook first — the file lands in your own downloads and nothing is sent anywhere. To have the record of your purchase deleted as well, write to us — that copy lives with the payment provider, and deleting it means the key stops working.
One email exists outside the browser: the yearly reminder about the key ending. It is sent to the address on the order, stops for good if you use the link in it, and there is no other mailing list.
